Our First Major Milestone

Remember back in 2014 and 2015 we gathered as a community to envision the future of arts & culture in the West End of Vancouver ? The top priority from the Art Plan ~ "A Vision for Arts & Culture in Vancouver's West End", led by Judith Marcuse, with over 300 locals (artist and residents) and some 25 community groups participating, we created a top 7 priority list. Number one on the list, a weekly West End Art Market. WE Arts is proud to present the weekly West End Sunday Art Market beginning Sunday June 4th 2017 at the new Jim Deva Plaza at Davie St and Bute St (by the rainbow crosswalk). The market is planned to run every Sunday until the end of September, possibly October, from 11am to 6pm. Featuring up to 32 local artists and live music. We invite you to come and meet your neighbours, make some new friends, and meet some of the 4,000 artists who live her. The market is a result of volunteer efforts delivering the community vision and expected t be a mix of 50% West Ender artists with the balance made up from across Vancouver and BC. Produced by WE Arts in partnership with the City of Vancouver Cultural Grants, the West End Business Improvement Association (WEBIA) and our friends at Gordon Neighbourhood House. We seek the assistance of volunteers each week, so please contact events@WEArts.ca if you can help. We also seek the assistance of businesses to sponsor the market, so enabling sustainable growth and the addition of new tents, a free public workshop and expanded advertising. Interested partners can contact john@WEArts.ca thank you. Check out the West End Art Plan to remind yourself, or to read it for the first time. It was a fun process and the first of many steps we hope to bring to this diverse neighbourhood, celebrating our rich multi-cultured community, connecting and creating community with art.
